Hello, my name is Tabitha. My animal id is #12152. I am a desexed female brown dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old.
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 09-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – going into care facility.
Tabitha is at risk due to behavior (New Hope Only determination). She is extremely uncomfortable with touch and unfamiliar surroundings. She should go to an adult only home. There are no known medical concerns for her at this time.

Family member stated that with the owner she is friendly and allowed people to come into the home and play with her as long as the owner was there. Upon intake, Dog is not socialized and only trusts owner, fearful and will charge if cornered. Had to use catch pole to remove from apartment.
Basic Information:: tabitha is large breed female dog. She was surrendered due to her owner being in the hospital. the information provided was by a family member.

How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers, Tabitha is friendly and would jump on them when they came in.
How is this dog around children?: Tabitha was not around children so behavior is unknown.
How is this dog around other dogs?: She has not been around dogs so behavior is unknown
How is this dog around cats?: she has not been around cats so behavior is unknown.
Resource guarding:: there is no information about resource guarding.
Bite history:: there is no bite history according to family member.
Energy level/descriptors:: high
Other Notes:: Family member reported when they were trying to feed her she became tense and would growl and bark and them. They had to put the bowl down and leave right away to give her space.
For a New Family to Know: Family member stated that tabitha is friendly, affectionate, and excitabel only with her owner. She would let her owner bath her. she allowed her owner to touch her food bowl and take a bone or toy out her mouth. Family member stated that tabitha would play with balls and chew bones. She ate dry and wet food pedigree with Alpo. She loves ice. She is well behaved when left alone in the home if the owner had to do errands. She has never been crate trained. Family member is unsure what tricks or commands she knows. It is unknown how she would react on a leash if she pulls or doesnt pull.
