I am a spayed female gray and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 1 MONTH old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/30/2016 from NY 11433, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Shawna came into the shelter as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake Shawna was playful and friendly, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Shawna came into the assessment room relaxed and calm, she was social towards the assessor. Shawna had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Shawna was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Shawna was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Shawna appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her mouth is open quickly turns and hand and licks with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, tail wagging, mouth open and ears relaxed. Squeeze 1: 1 Dog gently pulls back her paw, licks hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw, mouths hand no pressure Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish Dog-Dog:When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Oshaughnessy greets the other dog displaying soft body language. She solicits play with paw slaps and stands on the other dogs back. She engages in running, chase play.

Shawna was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Shawna engages in running chase play in a group of males, females, and puppies. She takes appropriate play breaks and displays soft body language. She may continually solicit play and become mouthy if the other dog does not engage in play with her. 7/1: Shawna greets the other dog displaying soft body language. She solicits play with paw slaps and stands on the other dogs back. She engages in running, chase play. 7/2-7/5: Shawna engages in running chase play in a group of males, females, and puppies. She takes appropriate play breaks and displays soft body language. 7/12: Shawna engages in high energy play with a male dog. She continually solicits play, ignoring the other dog’s body language that he does not want to engage. She may become mouthy at times.
