A volunteer writes:
Lola is a spayed 5 years old lab mix who is being surrendered due to owner having to take care of her sick mother. Owner stated she has no health issues and last saw a vet in 2015.
Bella is very friendly around strangers. She has lived and been around kids ages 4, 6, 7, and was very playful and tolerant of them. She plays in an exuberant manner with adults as well as kids. On walks, Bella will meet all kinds of dogs and she will be playful with them. Owner stated a bit too playful. She lived with a 7 year old cat and she was also very friendly with her. She has never bitten a person or animal.
Bella will poop, pee, and destroy stuff indoors. During storms she will whine and go near her owner. She is not bothered if her food is touched while she is eating, if she is pushed off furniture, is held, disturbed while sleeping, brushed, or if someone unfamiliar approaches the house or a family member. Owner has never trimmed her nails. If you attempt to take a bone style treat or a toy away, owner stated she would growl in a game type manner.
For a New Family to Know
Bella is described as friendly, affectionate, extremely playful and anxious with a very high activity level. Owner stated she is very smart and curious. Bella will follow her owner around when home. She likes to play with chew/bone toys and balls. Her favorite games are fetching and tug. She is kept indoors only and sleeps on owner’s room floor. She eats dry dog food. Owner fills up her bowl twice a day. He favorite treats is home food. She is mostly house-trained and will poo and pee a few times a week inside of the house. When she does potty outside she will do it on cement. When she is left alone at home she will whine and destroy household items. She has never been left in a yard or crate trained. She knows commands like sit and stay. She likes to go running for exercise and will pull very hard on a leash. Owner has never walked her off the leash.
Behavior during Intake
Bella was tolerant of handling during intake. She sat on command for treats. She was very playful and distracted by every little sound. After the owner left she whined and scratched her face with her paws. No signs of aggression were displayed during intake.
