06/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lesly came into the shelter as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake it was reported Lesly was very tense with a stiff body posture and her tucked tail. During SAFER Lesly had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lesly was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Lesly was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lesly appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in tucked position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body bit tense, tail tucked and attempts to exit. Squeeze 1:2 Dog quickly pulls back paw. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back paw. Toy: 1. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Lesly was initially nervous but quickly relaxed and engaged in gentle play with males, females. and puppies.
