07/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jojo came in as an owner surrender but there was no information giving at the time. At intake it was reported Jojo was calm and allowed all handling. During SAFER Jojo came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly, affectionate and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Jojo follows the handler, mouths the leash in a playful manner with his body soft during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on toy item Jojo growls and bites the assessor hand when attempting to remove the item. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft and mouths the leash in a playful manner. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 5. Dog growls and bites the assessor-a-hand. Dog-dog: Jojo greets the female dog softly and wanders in the pen. He is slightly sexually motivated, but does not attempt to mount. He listens to handler interruptions and continues to wander in the pen.
