A volunteer writes for Jennifer: Wiggle, wiggle, wag, wag, happy dance, happy, dance…my name is Jennifer, what’s yours? I see a leash in your hand, can we go for a walk? Wanna be friends? Hey, I smell treats. May I have one, I take them gently! Wait, I see a good place, need to potty! This is fun, look at all the people on the sidewalk smiling at me, and in the park too! I like everyone, so I knew they’d like me too. Hey little pugs…aren’t you supposed to be on a leash? It’s the law you know, but since you’re right here, how are you? You guys sure are cute. We can be friends too, ok? Oh, we’re taking pictures? Not my favorite thing, really. Hey, I like it back here off leash. This is a fun toy, and being able to snuggle with you and give you kisses, well, just wow! Another treat? Why, thank you! See how gentle I am even though I’m what they call emaciated, and they’re feeding me extra food each day? I’m such a good girl and would really love a nice home, lots of good food and people to love. Nothing to do today? Come on over and meet me and I guarantee to fill your heart to overflowing. Come.

Another volunteer writes: Jennifer immediately put a smile on my face for everything special about her. Her legs are stubby and body long like a Basset Hound with a silly smile on her face. I’m impressed with her confidence walking through a row of strange barking dogs without change of expression or fear; she’s just happy to be out. She pulls on her leash at first, but as we continue our exercise she starts to walk at my side. She seems distracted by her new surroundings so I bring her to a quiet place at the park to decompress. Jennifer picked a spot to watch the kids run around the picnic tables while their families set up a barbecue. I talk to her softly and rub her back. I pretend to tickle her and she flops around. It’s been awhile since I’ve fallen in love and I truly hope for her an opportunity at a new life and someone to love.

Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 5/31/17 During her initial medical exam, Jennifer allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Jennifer so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. However, she is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
