06/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Foxy came to us as an owner surrender due to the owner not having the proper time to care for her. According to the owner Foxy has lived with one adult, one teenager and is friendly toward strangers. It was reported that Foxy does have a rough play style and will due to her size. When left home alone Foxy will while and claw at the walls causing damage to them. She is not bothered if her food, toy or treats are touched. Foxy was bit nervous when entering the behavior room but showed interested in interacting with the assessor with soft body language. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language throughout most of the assessment. She proved easy to handle when chewing on the toy item and relinquished it to the assessor when the assessor attempted to take it from her. Foxy is reported to show destructive behavior in the home, such as wall scratching. We are unaware of what, if any, attempts were made to remedy this behavior but we suggest to future adopters that Foxy will need to be provided with physical and mental stimulation and with a variety of appropriate and engaging chew toys so she can engage in necessary chewing behavior without damage to human objects. We believe that Foxy can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has slightly nervous body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you.
