ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Folgers so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY

Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable

Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner

Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to the potentially very high level of resource guarding seen at the care center, we recommend an adult only home. Place with a New Hope partner: Due to a potentially very high level of resource guarding observed at the care center, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Folgers presents with outside of the care centers.

Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression

Potential challenges comments:: Resource guarding: Folgers’ has displayed a very high level of resource guarding at the care center, biting the finger off the assess-a-hand when it touched the toy he was in possession of. For this reason we advise against ever removing items from Folgers’ possession without safely trading for an item or greater or equal value. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended to aid in safely managing/modifying this behavior in a new home environment. Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Folger’s became fearful during his assessment and hard barked at the assessor. Due to the behavior displayed in shelter, the behavior department recommends an experienced adult home only until he can acclimate to his new home environment for the behavior to be further assessed. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is advised; force-free, reward based training only is recommended.

    17 dogs….. this is unbelievable! So mad and heartbroken that NYCACC thinks this is acceptable. 😑
    Folgers is absolutely stunning! This pup is getting a bad rap since he bit the assessor. My favorite is “biting the finger off the assess-a-hand”. These frickin kindergarten assessors can’t even spell or write a coherent sentence and we’re suppose to believe they can properly give qualified evaluations! What a sick joke!!!! They should fire everyone in this place! 😑
    Folgers has cute photos and videos! This gorgeous fella needs a home! Let’s show NYCACC and save them all! Praying and sharing with lots of love and hope! πŸΎπŸ’œπŸ™πŸ»

    He’s a doll……bottom line, he didn’t understand that stupid tag part of that ridiculous assessment and he was confused by that damn assess-a-hand thing. He’s an absolute love, a perfect dog.

    You know when I see messed up notes like this, Such as Folgers came to center as a stray cat I can’t help but wonder, what else ACC screw up on that can get this poor dog killed, and by looking at Folgers video, I really have to wonder….But if the notes are correct..Folgers is not leaving ACC without a Foster or adopter..biting the assessors hand is unforgivable according to ACC ..So please understand that this poor boy is very scared, and doesn’t know why he was brought to this loud hectic scary place….If Folgers shows guarding issues it can be corrected..It should not mean a death sentence..Look at his video, and thank you for having one for Folgers..He is showing affection to the Volunteer/employee by burying his head deep in her lap, enjoying the attention they are giving this sweet boy..He is a happy dog with a waggy tail, and wiggly butt, and he is just gorgeous.. Please adopt Folgers, and get him out of this horrible God Forsaken place, before ACC Murders him today..If you can’t commit long term, foster Folgers, and save his life..Fostering in most cases is free, but must check with Help Desk on Rescues that offer free fostering, because some don’t..Share and find this sweet boy a home for the Holidays..Pledging gets him noticed by the rescues and pays for his care.. There is only 3 ways Folgers is leaving ACC today..either by fosterong, adoption,, or in a body bag ..ACC is catching up on their kills, because of the Holidays..Don’t let Folgers be another kill. Folgers must be adopted through NH Rescue..Contact Help Desk for questions ..

      Messed up notes are common. Idiots will be idiots. And dogs suffer because of it. Just one more thing to dislike about this “care center.”

    There is research out there that cast large diubt on the resource guarding tests with the obviously fake hands.
    Canines know the difference between a strange object and a real hand. Folgers is a smart little cookie and deserves better than ebding his life here based on all too often fallable tests. The testers need uodated training as well as screening. Just as there are teachers who hate children, there are testers who hate dogs or a particular breed.

    Sorry to be peppering, but resource guarding is a big failure in testing aggression and yet is most often used to murder dogs like Folger.
