05/31/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Don’t tell Ceasar he isn’t the best looking dog on the planet, as he simply won’t believe you. Rocking a bow tie, thrilled to be hanging out for pets and cuddles, and even more thrilled when a squeaky toy is tossed, Ceasar runs after the toy, tail wagging like a stallion! Bouncing around the pen, toy in mouth and having the best time making it squeak, he finally settles down for a good chomp, carefully peeling the skin off the toy. Found as a stray, he has a very treatable skin condition that needs time and patience to restore him to his ‘best looking dog ever’ status. Ceasar rocked his behavior assessment, even joining in the ‘tag’ portion of the test, thinking it was play. Rockstar! On his first playdate he showed brief interest in playing with the female greeter and then went his own way. We know that Ceasar has to be uncomfortable with his current skin condition, but he’s not going to let anything get him down. No siree! Fun, friendly, playful and affectionate (he enjoys sitting with his person on the bench for some cuddle time), Ceasar is ready to rock his way into his new home for love, fun and care.

He shows brief play interest, though does not engage fully. The behavior department recommends that future introductions to dogs be conducted at a slow pace. INTAKE BEHAVIOR: 5/27/17 Upon intake, Ceasar was social. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: During his initial medical exam, Ceasar snapped. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Ceasar so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
