07/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ahoy there matey!!! Jackie is just about the cutest pirate I have ever seen!!! She posed for her pictures like a champ. Jackie also demonstrated her ability to sit for me and wait for a treat. I had to triple-check her kennel card for her age, as she ran around the yard like a puppy. Jackie is a senior who still has a lot of life left in her. If you’re interested in giving Jackie her forever home, come to the Care Center and meet her.
06/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jackie came into our center after a member of the public found her as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. Jackie was very relaxed and calm during intake, allowed all handling. She was calm and quiet upon entering SAFER assessment area. Jackie allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. She stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item. Jackie followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, soft. She gently pulled her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Jackie showed no interest in Toy. She approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, not stiff. The Behavior Team feels Jackie would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2.
