All That came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. He was nervous upon intake. All That came into the SAFER assessment room nervous and alert, but warmed up and softened, allowing all positioning and handling, tail wagging. All That allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, slight lip lick, mouth closed, ears back. All That followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, a bit hesitant to continue following mid game, but resumed with gentle coaxing. He pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. All That showed minimal interest in Toy, reacting to squeak sound but not fully engaging. When off leash with other dogs All That is uncomfortable and defensive. He corrects approach but may briefly sniff another dog when it turns to walk away. The Behavior Team feels All That would do best with an Experienced adopter. He needs a slow approach/slow introduction, preferably with bite sized treats, so he can warm up and become comfortable at his own pace.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, mouth closed, ears back, lip lick.
Tag: 2. Dog follows at the end of leash, hesitant to continue after second pass, resumes with gentle coaxing.
Squeeze 1 / 2: 2. Dog pulls back paw.
Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, sniffs, then turns away.
